No-Cheese Fiesta Sauce

It’s creamy, it’s cheesy, it’s spicy, it’s 100% dairy free!

This sauce contains NUTRITIONAL YEAST.  So, what is that?  Nutritional yeast is amazing, magical vegan dust that gives food a cheesy, nutty, buttery kind of taste!


Nutritional yeast contains just 80 calories per serving and packs in a slew of vitamins and minerals including over 200% daily value of: B-6, B-12, folic acid, Thiamine, Riboflavin, Niacin, and Biotin!  Plus, 9g of protein, 5g of fiber, 0g sugar, and only 5mg of sodium!  Like I said- magic! You may be able to find it at your local health-food store, but we order ours online.  A bit of a bother, I know, but it can be used in so many recipes and provides such a tasty (and healthy) element to dishes, that it is worth it!

Cheesy Fiesta Sauce


  • 1 potato
  • 1/2 c chopped baby carrots
  • 1 red bell pepper, fire roasted
  • 1/2 sweet white onion
  • 6 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 3/4 c nutritional yeast
  • 1/4 c vegetable broth
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp salt-free seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp cajun seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp smoked garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp jalepeno salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp chili powder


1. Peel and chop potato and place in pot along with the chopped baby carrots. Cover with three inches of water and bring water to a boil. Boil for 5-10 minutes or until potatoes and carrots are soft. Transfer to a strainer and rinse with cool water. Place cooled potato and carrots in a blender.
2. Once your fire-roasted pepper has been prepared, chop off the stem, clean out the seeds and add to blender.
3. Chop and saute onion for 2-3 minutes or until onion starts to turn translucent. Add in minced garlic and saute for another 1-2 minutes.
4. Transfer onions and garlic to the blender along with remaining ingredients. Blend until smooth.
5. Warm before serving.
